Amy Merrill

director & lead teacher

Amy is the heart behind Three Little Birds Preschool. As the Director and Lead Teacher, she brings a genuine love for children, nature, and early childhood education into everything she does.

As a mom and a Maine native, Amy has always felt a deep connection to the outdoors and the beauty of the natural world. Her love for nature and her passion for working with young children naturally came together in creating Three Little Birds Preschool.

Amy believes childhood should be filled with wonder, connection, exploration, and plenty of time to simply be a child. Her teaching philosophy is inspired by nature-based education, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia approaches, with a strong belief that children learn best through hands-on experiences, meaningful relationships, play, and following their own curiosity.

Amy is committed to providing a thoughtful, high-quality early childhood experience and continually growing as an educator. She holds Maine’s Infant and Toddler Credential, and Three Little Birds Preschool is proudly NAFCC Accredited and Nature Explore Certified.

Most of all, Amy feels incredibly lucky to spend her days alongside young children during such an important and beautiful stage of their lives. Watching each child develop their own personality, discover their strengths, build friendships, and gain confidence is what makes this work so meaningful to her.

Mackenzie London

assistant teacher

Mackenzie grew up in Orange County, California, before moving to New England in 2016. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Maine College of Art and Design and has spent her career as a Brand Designer, but she has always loved working with children and bringing creativity, curiosity, and a little goofiness to whatever she does. She worked at a preschool in high school and has always loved the joy and imagination that come so naturally to young children. Now a mom to a 5-year-old son, Mackenzie has developed an even deeper appreciation for the wonder of childhood and all the ways children learn and grow. She believes children thrive when they have the freedom to play, explore, get a little messy, and connect with nature—one of the reasons she chose Three Little Birds for her own son and is so excited to be part of the team now!
